It is with a very heavy heart that I share a great loss to Kenya, the conservation community, herpetology world and the close knit Watamu residents, the communities he served and all the staff and friends of Bio-Ken.

WildlifeDirect does not support the reversal of the Hunting ban in Botswana though we recognize that it is their sovereign right to manage elephants domestically. Recent policies by the former Botswana President, Ian Khama gave Botswana enormous global recognition and applause. But the current President, Mokgweetsi Masisi is aggressively rolling back Khama’s policies.

It was shocking moment in Kenya as a Mombasa Law Court set free Ephantus Gitonga Mbare who was arrested in December 2016 after allegedly being found dealing in 1097.75kg of elephant ivory.

On a chilly Saturday morning in April, thousands of people from all walks of life turned up for the biggest march for wildlife. The Nairobi Edition of Global March for Elephants, Rhinos, Lions and other endangered species attracted more than 3500 marchers who marched for about 15km from the National Museums of Kenya to Kenya Wildlife Service Headquarters.

A new weekly series called Wildlife Warriors will premiere on East Africa’s largest channel, Citizen TV, on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 5PM. Development of this series was funded by the U.S. Government, through USAID, in partnership with U.S. Department of the Interior, Wild Lives Foundation, and National Geographic.

In December, the First Lady of Kenya, H. E. Margaret Kenyatta convened a meeting with conservationists in Kenya discuss ways to work together to protect Kenya’s wildlife.

Our Education and Outreach team kicked off across the country to distribute Wildlife Warriors resource materials to 33 schools participating in the Wildlife Warriors program. Wildlife Warriors is an education program that introduces Kenyan children to endangered wildlife through a nationwide program targeting public primary schools.

We are proud to announce the third report on the outcomes of wildlife crime cases in Kenya. We have been monitoring wildlife crime cases in Kenyan courts since 2008.
