WildlifeDirect Rolls Out Team Sayari “Nature Positive Kids” Outreach Program

WildlifeDirect, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Africa's wildlife, is pleased to announce the roll out of its new Nature Positive Kids Outreach Program which is an extension of the National Geographic’s Team Sayari educational entertainment Program. Team Sayari, a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), The Walt Disney Company Africa and Wildlife Direct, saw a 20-part television series being aired across Africa on National Geographic Wild and Disney Channel.

Team Sayari revealed as title for National Geographic Kids Africa Programme

Following field production commencing earlier this year, as well as the announcement of the local hosts, The Walt Disney Company Africa, together with its project partners, National Geographic, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and WildlifeDirect have today revealed both the title and the set of the highly anticipated National Geographic Kids programme.

WildlifeDirect Joins Dozens of Environmental Experts and Professionals in Calling for MP’s to Reject Proposed Amendment to the Forest Act, 2018

WildlifeDirect is calling on the Members of Parliament and all citizens to say NO to a Bill mooted by the MP for Langata, Mr. Nixon Korir, that proposes to repeal section 34 (2A) of the Forestry Act 2018 that was inserted through the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act, 2018. The Bill is set for debate in Parliament on 25th January 2022.

The Walt Disney Company, WildlifeDirect, The U.S. Department Of State, and the U.S. Agency for International Development join forces to develop and launch National Geographic Kids Educational Entertainment programme in Africa

At a launch in Nairobi, Kenya today, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and The Walt Disney Company announced that together they will develop and implement educational entertainment and outreach programs in East Africa, in collaboration with local implementing partner WildlifeDirect.

“Engage children, Promote North-South Collaboration and involve communities” identified as priorities for wildlife filmmakers in Africa

On October 13th and 14th 2021, close to 200 people gathered virtually to discuss how we can accelerate African wildlife filmmaking and storytelling in a two–day event. The Open Space Technology (OST) event attracted participants from over 40 countries in response to the question “Africans at the heart of African wildlife filmmaking and storytelling to conserve Africa’s spectacular wild heritage. How can we make it happen?”.

WildlifeDirect is excited to announce that Dr. Paula Kahumbu has been recognized as the Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year for 2021. This prestigious award recognizes the cutting edge work that Dr. Kahumbu has been pioneering for more than a decade at WildlifeDirect. The award was announced today at the National Geographic Explorers Festival, an invite-only event hosted by the National Geographic Society, held on June 15th – 17th, 2021.
