We, the undersigned leading public and private organizations concerned with the conservation and management of forests in Kenya, are alarmed by a decision by the Parliamentary Procedures and House Rules Committee to initiate a move to amend section 34 of the Forest Conservation and Management Act (2016).

WildlifeDirect is calling on the Members of Parliament and all citizens to say NO to a Bill mooted by the MP for Langata, Mr. Nixon Korir, that proposes to repeal section 34 (2A) of the Forestry Act 2018 that was inserted through the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act, 2018. The Bill is set for debate in Parliament on 25th January 2022.
