WildlifeDirect is pleased to release the fourth report on the outcomes of wildlife, forest, and fisheries crime cases in Kenya. This report presents data collected from 4,142 cases. We have been monitoring wildlife crime cases in Kenyan courts since 2013 as a response to the crisis of poaching of elephants and other endangered wildlife.

Tim, the Super Tusker elephant in Amboseli has died. Our hearts are broken. Tim was one of Africa's very few Super Tuskers and an incredible elephant whose presence awed and inspired many. He was one of Kenya's National Treasures!

Disheartening news as iconic bull elephant meets untimely death at an abandoned septic tank in Samburu

It is with a heavy heart that we learnt about the death of Teresai, a spectacular and famous bull elephant in Samburu.  Teresai, aged 41 was found dead on September 18 after falling into an abandoned septic tank at the ruins of the former Serena Safari Lodge located on the edge of Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

Convicted Ivory Kingpin Set Free

A High Court Judge set free a convicted ivory trafficker, Feisal Ali Mohammed, who was serving a 20 year sentence and a penalty fine of 20 million shillings (USD 200,000). Feisal had already served two years of his sentence after being found guilty of trafficking in 2,152 kilograms of elephant ivory before the High Court reversed his conviction and sentence.
